The Blueprint
Eleven Modules, One Standard
Every brand decision resolves back to these modules. If a creative choice can't be traced to one of them, it is off-brand by definition. Click through to the full specification.
Module 01
Brand Foundation — The Strategic Anchor
We do not compete on the showroom floor. We compete on the timeline of a home.
The Three Pillars
The Three Personas
Positioning statement. C.L. Bailey & Co. sits at the intersection of premium residential furniture design and championship-level play performance — solid hardwood on 1-inch diamond-honed slate, finished by hand in 8 coats, engineered to be inherited. We are the table that is still in the room a generation later.
Module 02
Visual Identity — The Creative Assets
Three marks, three jobs. They are not interchangeable — choosing the wrong mark for the context is a brand violation, not a style preference.
Logo Hierarchy
The Primary Mark — the heritage badge. Black filigree frame, Heritage Green lettering (#006840 — the only green in the system, shared with the felt), Tomball, Texas ribbon. Never recolored, stretched, outlined, or rebuilt. On Deep Charcoal or wood grounds it sits on a Warm White plate — the mark itself is never reversed.
Exclusion Zone & Minimum Sizes

| Mark | Digital min | Print / physical min |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Wordmark | 180px wide | 1.25 in (32mm) |
| Secondary Lockup | 120px wide | 0.875 in (22mm) |
| Crest (screen) | 16px, single color | — |
| Crest — brass nameplate | — | 1.5 in, 1.0mm relief |
| Crest — embroidery | — | 2.0 in, 12mm stitch detail |
Never: recolor, stretch, outline, or rebuild a mark. Below the Primary minimum, switch to the Secondary Lockup — do not shrink the Primary.
Production reality (§2.1.4). Exactly one mark exists today: the Primary badge. Until the Lockup and Crest are commissioned and released through the vault, the badge serves all placements — on its Warm White plate at the largest size the space allows. Never improvise a lockup, monogram, or cropped badge. The current site favicon (the full badge at icon size) is a known violation, tolerated only until the Crest exists.
Imagery Direction
✓ Always
- High-end residential photography in warm, authentic ambient light — golden-hour, lamp-lit, hearth-lit.
- Real, lived-in interiors; families using the furniture.
- Wood grain and finish legible; one image per collection with the convertible dining top deployed.
- Warm grade (4800–5200K feel), protected shadows, charcoal blacks — never crushed to #000.
— Never
- Clinical white-background catalog cutouts or cold studio strobe.
- Empty rooms with no human warmth; over-saturated "showroom" lighting.
- Any frame where the table reads as a bar fixture rather than furniture.
Asset File Naming Framework
[Brand]-[Module]-[AssetType]-[Color]-[Version].[Ext] CLB-LOGO-PrimaryMark-Full-v01.svg CLB-LOGO-Crest-Bronze-v02.eps CLB-POS-TableTent-Skylar-v01.pdf CLB-CAD-Viking-Full-v03.dwg
Web-res derivatives append -web before the version. Latest approved versions mirror to /_CURRENT/ (version stripped) so dealer links never break; superseded files move to /_ARCHIVE/, never deleted. Unnamed or ad-hoc files are purged on the monthly vault audit.
Module 02 · Live
Brand Color Architecture
Mirrored token-for-token from the live clbailey.com build: warm paper whites, graphite ink, deep charcoal iron, aged bronze hardware, and sand. Wood enters layouts through photography, never as flat fills. Heritage Green appears only in the mark and the felt. Click any swatch to copy its HEX. Proportion law: Warm White/Cloud 60 / Charcoal + Photography 30 / Sand + Bronze 10. Bronze never exceeds 5%.
Module 02 · Type
Typographic Hierarchy
Four families, mirrored from the live build: Le Jour Serif (400, never bolded) for every headline; Roboto for body; Roboto Condensed for data and condensed subheads; Raleway (uppercase, +2px tracking) for labels and buttons. A hard-coded fallback stack governs uncontrolled environments like dealer email.
Shape law. Corner radius 2px on buttons and interactive elements, 0 everywhere else. Buttons: 1px border, 12×28px padding, Raleway 11px/600 uppercase. No drop shadows — depth comes from rules, surfaces, and photography.
Fallback stack (dealer email — required).
Headlines: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif (stands in for Le Jour Serif) ·
Body: Roboto, "Helvetica Neue", Arial, sans-serif
Module 02 · Motion
The Motion Law — Heritage Doesn't Dart
Motion is the room settling, never the interface performing. These tokens mirror the live build — 300ms button transitions, staggered fade-up entrances — and are law for every animated surface: web, video overlays, digital signage.
| Token | Spec | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Micro | 200–300ms · ease | Hover, focus, button color shifts |
| Entrance | 400–600ms · ease-out | Fade-up on scroll/load, translate ≤24px |
| Stagger | 100–150ms between siblings | Sequenced entrances: hero → sub → CTA |
| Photographic | ≥8s · linear · scale ≤105% | Slow pan/zoom in video heroes only |
✓ Allowed
- Opacity fades; entrance translate-up of 24px or less.
- Hover color transitions within the Micro token.
- Slow photographic pan or scale in video heroes.
- One entrance animation per element per page view.
— Banned
- Parallax; scroll-jacking or scroll-driven scenes.
- Bounce, spring, or elastic easing; hover scale beyond 1.02.
- Autoplaying carousels faster than 6s per slide; marquees; spinners as brand moments.
- The mark never animates — no spinning badges, no drawing-on filigree, no shimmer.
Reduced motion — absolute. prefers-reduced-motion: reduce is honored on every surface: entrances render instantly in their final state, video heroes show their poster frame, carousels stop auto-advancing.
Module 03
Editorial Identity — The Copy & Voice
Timeless, honest, authoritative — yet approachable, like a master carpenter explaining their work across the bench. We state facts plainly and let the material do the bragging. We never oversell, because the spec sheet already won.
The "This, Not That" Matrix
| We are… | …but not | In practice |
|---|---|---|
| Premium | Elitist | "Built to be used by your whole family," not "for the discerning few." |
| Traditional | Antiquated | "Time-tested joinery," not "old-fashioned." |
| Durable | Industrial | "Engineered to be re-leveled and inherited," not "heavy-duty contractor-grade." |
| Confident | Arrogant | "The slate is one inch. Here's why that matters," not "the best table money can buy." |
| Warm | Folksy | "Made by hand in Tomball," not "good ol' Texas craftsmanship, y'all." |
| Detailed | Jargon-heavy | Explain the diamond-honing; don't hide behind it. |
| Aspirational | Pretentious | "The room your family gathers in," not "an objet d'art for the connoisseur." |
Mechanical Rules — Absolute
Brand Lexicon
✓ Approved — use exactly
— Banned — never
*The one sanctioned use of "MDF" — the brand's most powerful sentence:
"Most tables in this price range hide MDF or particle board under a veneer. We don't. Solid hardwood, all the way through — because an heirloom can't be hollow."
Permitted in dealer training, showroom murals, and comparison copy. Factually exact, never exaggerated.
Module 3-B
Editorial Identity: Español — The Spanish Voice
clbailey.com/es is live. Spanish is a first-class brand voice, not a translation pass — the same master carpenter, in Spanish, addressing the reader as usted, always. Canonical strings below are harvested from the live site and are locked: never re-translated, paraphrased, or "improved."
Locked Canonical Translations
| English | Español (locked) |

Spanish Mechanics — Absolute
Banned Terms — Spanish
*The sanctioned "No MDF" claim — Spanish version:
"La mayoría de las mesas en este rango de precio esconden MDF o aglomerado bajo una chapa. Nosotros no. Madera maciza, de principio a fin — porque un patrimonio familiar no puede estar hueco."
Parity law — current violation. Every English surface ships with its Spanish equivalent at the same time, and no UI string renders untranslated on /es. As of June 2026, top-level nav labels ("Pool Tables," "Felt," "Shuffleboards," "Furniture," "Accessories") render in English on the Spanish site — fix on site.
Module 04
Digital Marketing & Social Media
A rolling 9-tile rhythm of three content types — finished-room hero, craft/material macro, family-in-use lifestyle — never two of the same type adjacent. Feed 4:5 (1080×1350); Reels/Stories 9:16 with text clear of the top 220px and bottom 420px.
The Caption Blueprint — every caption, no exceptions
The slate is one inch thick. Most aren't.
One line. A fact or a question. No emoji in the hook.Under the felt of every Skylar is a full inch of diamond-honed slate on a solid hardwood frame, finished by hand in 8 coats. It levels true today, and it will level true for the family that inherits it. 🪵
2–4 lines. Master-carpenter voice, approved lexicon, Oxford commas, max one exclamation total.Find the Skylar at an Authorized Dealer near you → link in bio.
One line + link. Always "Find a Dealer," never "Shop Now."Emoji law. Maximum 2 per caption, never in the hook, never mid-sentence. Approved set only: 🎱 🪵 🏡 ✨. Banned: 🔥 💰 🤑 😍 👇 and all "hype" emoji — we are premium, not a clearance sale.
Module 05
Environmental & Physical Touchpoints
The brand in the room: showroom signage, point of sale, packaging, and the installer-delivered Owner's Care Kit.
Module 06
Paid Media & Direct Response
Co-op rules that protect the heirloom positioning and the dealer network. Headlines lead with the spec or the heirloom promise — never a discount.
✓ Must
- Label every price as MSRP.
- CTA is "Find a Dealer" — we are dealer-distributed.
- PMax asset groups: Secondary Lockup (never crest-only), one residential hero, one craft macro, one convertible-top demo.
- Meta video: first 3 seconds show the finished room, not the logo.
- Guarantee Brass seal bottom-right, ≥0.5 in, with ® and terms footnote.
- Co-op ads carry the dealer's name in an approved co-brand lockup (Module 09).
— Never
- Below-MSRP figures or strikethrough "was/now" pricing in brand or co-op creative.
- "Shop Now."
- Sitewide percentage offers in brand creative — only "Available at Authorized Dealers" / "In-Store Exclusive."
- Image text over 20% of frame (PMax).
C.L. Bailey & Co. products sold through Authorized Dealers. MSRP shown; dealer pricing may vary. Lifetime Structural Guarantee subject to terms at clbailey.com/guarantee.
Module 07 · Web Standards
Accessibility & Alt-Text Law
This portal and clbailey.com hold WCAG AA minimum on every text pair (4.5:1 normal, 3:1 large ≥24px); pairings marked AAA also clear 7:1 and are preferred for long-form reading. These verified pairings are law.
| Foreground | Background | Ratio | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
Graphite #3A3A3A | Warm White #FAF8F5 | 10.7:1 | ✓ AAA |
Mid Gray #6B6560 | Warm White #FAF8F5 | 5.4:1 | ✓ AA — body standard |
White #FFFFFF | Deep Charcoal #1C1C1E | 17.0:1 | ✓ AAA |
White #FFFFFF | Graphite #3A3A3A (buttons) | 11.4:1 | ✓ AAA |
Deep Charcoal #1C1C1E | Sand #D4C9B8 (btn-sand) | 10.4:1 | ✓ AAA |
Aged Bronze #A89279 | Deep Charcoal #1C1C1E | 5.7:1 | ✓ AA — AAA at large sizes |
Aged Bronze #A89279 | Warm White #FAF8F5 | 2.8:1 | — Fails. Accent only — never text on light grounds |
Alt-Text Pattern — Absolute
[Collection] [piece type] in [finish] finish — C.L. Bailey & Co., [setting] Skylar pool table in Warm Chestnut finish — C.L. Bailey & Co., lamp-lit family game room
Lead with the collection name. Always name the finish. Always sign "C.L. Bailey & Co." Decorative images get empty alt="". Missing product alt fails the monthly portal audit. Never keyword-stuff; never "best cheap pool table."
Module 07 · Downloads
Brand Typeface & Logos
Quick downloads for Authorized Dealers. Logos are C.L. Bailey property — use them per Module 02, and never recolor, stretch, outline, or rebuild a mark. Typefaces are governed by their own licenses: download only what each license permits.
Logos

not yet built
Typeface
Typeface licensing — read before downloading. Le Jour Serif is a licensed family from Din Studio: it is not free, and the file is not redistributed here — request access and we will route the correct license. Roboto, Roboto Condensed, and Raleway are open-source (Google Fonts), free to download and embed. For dealer email and other uncontrolled environments, use the fallback stack instead — Georgia for headlines, Roboto or Arial for body (§2.5.6).
Module 07 · Asset Vault
Dealer File Download Vault
Authenticated dealers retrieve current logos, photography, CAD blocks, and pricing here. Every file follows the naming framework [Brand]-[Module]-[AssetType]-[Color]-[Version].[Ext]. Links resolve through /_CURRENT/ so a saved link never breaks on a version bump.
| File | Type | Asset | Updated | Download |
|---|
Accessibility law. This portal holds WCAG AA minimum on every text pair. Graphite on Warm White 10.7:1; Mid Gray on Warm White 5.4:1; White on Deep Charcoal 17.0:1. Aged Bronze and Sand are accent and UI border colors — never text on a light ground.
Module 08
AI Operations & Prompt Engineering
The brand voice, encoded. Prepend this system prompt to any AI copy task — it is the enforceable version of Modules 1 and 3.
You are the copywriter for C.L. Bailey & Co., a handcrafted game room furniture brand established in Tomball, Texas in 1999. Your tagline is "Built for Homes That Endure." VOICE: Write like a master carpenter explaining their work across the bench — timeless, honest, authoritative, and approachable. State facts plainly and let the material brag for you. Never oversell; the spec sheet already won the argument. NON-NEGOTIABLE FACTS (keep exact): - Solid hardwood only — never MDF or particle board. - 1-inch diamond-honed slate. - 8 signature hand-applied multi-coat finishes. - Matched-family collections (Skylar, Viking, Tunbridge), plus the Dutchess pool-table collection. Collection names are never translated. - Dual-purpose convertible dining/buffet tops. - Lifetime Structural Guarantee; re-levelable; built to be inherited. - Sold through Authorized Dealers (CTA is always "Find a Dealer"). - The brand publishes in English and Spanish. For Spanish output, apply the Module 3-B addendum: usted register, locked translations only. MECHANICS: Oxford comma always. Maximum ONE exclamation point per piece, zero in spec or warranty copy. Spell out one–nine; figures for 10+ and always for measurements and prices. Capitalize collection names. POSITIONING: premium not elitist · traditional not antiquated · durable not industrial · confident not arrogant · warm not folksy. BANNED WORDS: MDF/particle board (except the sanctioned "No MDF" contrast claim), veneer substrate, cheap, budget, affordable, "man cave," "bar," "game room toys," "unit," disposable. If a requested claim is not in the facts above, do not invent it — ask for the spec or omit it.
AI-Cliché Ban List
Append to any AI request: "Do not use any of the banned AI-cliché words. Write plainly, as a craftsperson would speak."
Image Generation Guardrails
--no plastic, glossy plastic finish, warped perspective, melting wood, extra legs, floating table, impossible proportions, distorted pockets, oversaturated, white seamless studio background, cartoon, CGI sheen, fisheye
Brand truth check. Always specify real dimensions (88×50 in footprint for an 8-foot table), natural wood grain, matte hand-applied finish, and warm lamp-lit residential interiors. AI imagery is for concepting and mood only — it MUST NOT be passed off as a photograph of actual product in dealer-facing or paid assets.
Module 09
Co-Branding & Brand Interoperability
When a retailer features our mark beside its own, these rules protect trademark integrity. Binding on every co-op and co-branded asset.

AUTHORIZED DEALER
✓ Must
- Retain ™/® on the C.L. Bailey mark, unaltered — never recolored, stretched, or restyled to "match" the retailer.
- Place our mark only on Warm White, Cloud, Deep Charcoal (on its Warm White plate), or an approved wood field.
- Carry the attribution micro-line: "C.L. Bailey & Co. is a registered mark. Featured by [Retailer], an Authorized Dealer."
— Never
- Let either mark intrude on the other's exclusion zone.
- Reduce our mark below the 85% floor or the §2.3 minimums — even in dealer-funded ads.
- Permit "official," "exclusive," or "partner" language without written brand-team approval.
Family of Brands — Sold Alongside C.L. Bailey
These marks share retail floors, the site, and co-op creative with C.L. Bailey. All Module 09 rules — parity, isolation, exclusion zones, trademark integrity — apply to every one of them.

Module 10
Photography & Image Governance — The Image Standard
Extends §2.6 imagery direction, §2.7 naming, and §8.3 AI parameters into one governing standard for every image on every surface — web, social, paid, dealer portal, print.
The one-sentence standard. Every C.L. Bailey photograph is a warm, lamp-lit room in one believable Texas home, where solid hardwood furniture is being lived with — and the felt is Heritage Green.
The Shot Taxonomy — Every Image Is Exactly One of Six
| Type | Code | Purpose | Hard rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| Residential Hero | Hero | Collection anchor — the room at its best hour. | One room per collection. 16:9 web / 4:5 feed. |
| Family-in-Use | Lifestyle | People using the furniture: game night, dinner on the top. | Natural posture; nobody posing at camera. |
| Craft Macro | Macro | Grain, joinery, slate edge, finish coat, brass nameplate. | Wood grain MUST be legible. |
| Conversion Demo | Demo | The dining top deployed — felt to dinner. | Required once per collection. Photograph, never render. |
| Workshop / Provenance | Shop | The Tomball floor: saws, finish room, leveling, the makers. | Real only. AI is banned for this type — no exceptions. |
| Product Study | Study | Clean three-quarter and detail views on a quiet, warm ground. | Never white-seamless. Warm White or wood-toned environment. |
Light, Color & the Felt Law
✓ Always
- Heritage Green (#006840) — the green of the mark's lettering — is the default playing surface in all brand photography. A second approved felt appears only when the felt program itself is the subject.
- Warm ambient light — golden-hour, lamp-lit, hearth-lit. Practical sources visible where natural.
- Warm grade, 4800–5200K feel. Protected shadows — moody is correct, crushed is not. Charcoal blacks, never #000.
- Rooms dressed inside the brand system: warm whites, sand, charcoal iron, the wood finishes, bronze accents — the green felt is the room's single saturated note.
— Never
- Burgundy, blue, purple, black, or tan felts as set dressing — retired from brand imagery.
- Cold strobe, midday flat-bright, or LED-strip "games room" lighting.
- Saturation pushes; off-system prop colors as a dominant field.
- Skylines that aren't Texan; white-box lofts; anywhere-and-nowhere rooms.
One Collection, One House
Each collection lives in one architectural world, documented in a one-page room bible before any shoot or generation. A new world requires the same written approval as a new brand color.
AI-Generated Imagery — The Governed Tiers
| Tier | Surfaces | AI permitted? |
|---|---|---|
| 1 — Proof | Product Studies, Craft Macros, Conversion Demos, Workshop, paid ads making product claims | No. Real photography only. |
| 2 — Lifestyle | Residential Heroes and Family-in-Use on web & social | Conditionally. Product must be dimensionally and materially true; passes the publish gate; named human sign-off. |
| 3 — Internal | Concepting, mood boards, room-bible exploration | Yes, freely. |
Non-negotiables for Tier 2. Proportions, finish, hardware, pocket and leg count exactly match the shipping product. Prompt text and generator names NEVER appear in any public URL, filename, alt text, or EXIF — files are renamed per the framework below before upload. AI never depicts the workshop, the makers, or "our factory" — the craft story is the one place a synthetic image would be a lie rather than an illustration.
Photography File Naming — Extends §2.7
CLB-[Collection|Module]-[ShotType]-[Subject]-[Source]-vNN.[ext] Collection: Skylar · Viking · Tunbridge · Dutchess · Brand ShotType: Hero · Lifestyle · Macro · Demo · Shop · Study Source: Ph (photograph) · Gen (generated) CLB-Skylar-Hero-Library-Gen-v02.jpg CLB-Viking-Demo-DiningTop-Ph-v01.jpg
Library hygiene: no spaces, no parentheses, no duplicate suffixes, no prompt text, no missing extensions. Folder mirror /CLB_Library/[Collection]/[ShotType]/. Request the rendered size — w-800 cards, w-1920–w-2560 heroes — with f-auto; q-75 heroes, q-80 macros so grain survives. Every slot ships a low-quality placeholder. Non-conforming files are renamed or purged on the monthly audit.
The Publish Gate — No Image Ships Until Every Row Passes
| # | Gate |
|---|---|
| 1 | Maps to exactly one shot type in the taxonomy. |
| 2 | Felt is Heritage Green — or the image is an approved felt-program asset. |
| 3 | Light and grade meet the standard: warm, protected shadows, true tones. |
| 4 | Setting belongs to the collection's documented world. |
| 5 | Wood grain legible; proportions true; pockets, legs, and rails anatomically correct. |
| 6 | If generated: Tier permitted, product-true, named human sign-off, Gen source tag. |
| 7 | Filename conforms; no prompt text anywhere in URL, alt, or metadata. |
| 8 | Alt text per Module 07 — descriptive, collection-led; decorative gets empty alt="". |
| 9 | Correct transform size for the slot; low-quality placeholder present. |
Remediation order. This week: rename every prompt-text file in the image library — that is exposure, not polish. Next 30 days: retire off-felt and off-world imagery from primary surfaces; write the three room bibles. Next quarter: shoot the one thing AI cannot do — two days in the Tomball workshop, plus one real Conversion Demo sequence per collection. That is the proof layer no competitor can copy.
Module 11
Machine Readability & AI Search — The Crawlable Brand
AI assistants — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Overviews — cite whoever states facts most clearly, consistently, and crawlably. Module 08 governs what AI writes for us; this module governs what AI says about us.
The Canonical Entity Facts — Byte-Identical Everywhere
| Fact | Canonical value |

One stale address or wrong founding year degrades machine trust in all the others. The vault holds the master fact sheet; the site footer, JSON-LD, Google Business Profile, directories, and press boilerplate mirror it exactly.
Required Infrastructure
Bilingual parity for machines — current violations. hreflang pairs (en/es + x-default) are required on every page; clbailey.com currently ships none. Spanish pages carry identical facts, locked 3-B translations, and inLanguage: "es".
The quarterly AI-visibility audit. Ask the major assistants the money questions — "best solid hardwood pool table," "pool table that converts to a dining table," and the same in Spanish. Record: cited or not, which claims repeat, which facts come back wrong. A wrong fact always traces to an inconsistent source — fix the source, not the symptom.
